071921 Coastal Bend AI2ES Retreat
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College are part of one of the seven inaugural $20 million National Science Foundation AI Institutes set to further explore how to best develop artificial intelligence to benefit our society. The unique partnership is headed by the University of Oklahoma (OU) and includes private sector companies. Part of the team met for a retreat in Corpus Christi. Dr. Amy McGovern, OU professor and director of the NSF AI Institute for Research on Trustworthy AI in Weather, Climate, and Coastal Oceanography (ai2es.org), addressed the research team and residents of the Coastal Bend on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence and Improving Weather and Environmental Forecasting” on July 19 aboard the USS Lexington. The three-day retreat concluded on July 21.
