CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Special Collections and Archives recently received a grant for $17,952 courtesy of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) TexTreasures Grant program. The funds will support the digitization of more than 700 VHS tapes featuring the Corpus Christi Coffee Club, a Mexican American political forum broadcast from 1991 to 2003.
The collection, housed inside the Mary and Jeff Bell Library, includes 739 VHS tapes spanning nearly 20 linear feet. The tapes contain up to 739 hours of interviews recorded by local civil rights activist and creator of the show, Rey Madrigal.
